Gardens that still look good in November.

We design and build gardens for houses. We choose plants for your soil, your light, and for how much time you actually want to spend holding a pair of secateurs.

Why us

Three things we do differently

A garden is one of the more expensive things you buy for a house - and the only one that can die. So we work in a way that keeps it looking like the handover photographs three years later.

One team from sketch to last stone

We don't hand you over to subcontractors. The same person draws the design, orders the materials and signs off the work - so there is nobody else to blame.

Plants chosen for your soil and shade

We start with a soil pit and light readings at four points across the plot. That is why our planting doesn't fail after the first winter.

A quote that doesn't move

You get a breakdown of materials, labour and plant hire, line by line. The contract price is the final price, unless you change the scope yourself.

Reviews

What owners say after three seasons

“We were braced for losing half the planting over winter. Third year in, nothing has gone apart from one hydrangea, which they replaced under guarantee without a word of argument.”

“I was given a 32-line quote and the invoice matched it to the penny. With the last contractor I paid extra three times.”
Priya RamanRichmond · terrace and 310 m² garden
“I told them I had no time for a garden. They designed it so I do two things a year: mow, and cut the grasses back once.”

About the studio

It started with one garden in Barnes

In 2007 Michael Wilson took on 200 m² of back garden because a neighbour couldn't find anyone who would do it properly. Today we are a studio of twelve with our own plant, but the rule hasn't changed: we take on as many gardens a year as we can personally keep an eye on.

  • A maximum of 18 projects a season - deliberately
  • Two Greenwich-trained landscape architects on the team
  • Plant material from three trusted growers in Surrey and Kent

Next step

We come out, measure up, and tell you what it costs

The visit takes about 90 minutes and it is free - including when you end up going with someone else. You leave with a price range and a first idea of the layout.
